Radio Station Format Definitions:
  Oldies
 
The oldies format is one of the most popular formats of radio. Usually these stations play selections of popular rock and roll music from the 1950's to the 1970's. Some oldies stations specialize in a specific decade. Other stations, called "Jammin' oldies", focus on popular urban oldies with emphasis on classic soul, Motown, disco, and R&B. Generally oldies stations are targeted to adults in their 30s upwards.

Typical artists heard on Oldies stations include: Elvis Presley, Otis Redding, Doors, Little Richard, The Kinks, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Rod Stewart, Four Tops, Platters, Dion and the Belmonts, The Supremes
