| This is one of the most popular formats of radio in the United States. Most markets have at least one such station. These stations play a mix of the more popular rock & roll hits from the 1960's to the 1980's. Many such stations devote special programs to a favorite artist, such as the Rolling Stones, the Beatles or the Grateful Dead. The target audience consists of adults between 30 and 50 years old.
